Auto Hibernator Blog >> Software >> Auto Hibernator Saturday, 26th March 2011 | | In another attempt to save as much power as possible, I have written a program that automatically forces the system to go into hibernate at night.
The system automatically checks every hour between 3 and 6 (with a 30 second countdown) if anyone is still using the computer. If they are, it can be cancelled, but if not then the system forces the computer to hibernate. This can save power in case the system is left on.
In time, the system is going to be integrated with the room controlled to turn off the lights (if they are on) when the system hibernates. I also intend to link a passive infrared sensor, and if there is no movement in the room, it will assume no-one is there, or that no-one is awake. | | Tags: Hibernate, Power Management |
